Mumbai is India’s city of extremes — and that’s exactly what makes it extraordinary. The colonial grandeur of the Gateway of India. The clamour of Crawford Market at midnight. The meditative calm of Elephanta’s rock-cut temples. The improbable human enterprise of Dharavi. And through it all, the city’s relentless, intoxicating energy — the sense that anything is possible and everything is happening at once.
Our Mumbai City Explorer — 3 Nights 4 Days — is designed to give you the real Mumbai: not just the landmarks, but the living, breathing, endlessly surprising city that India’s dreamers, makers, and storytellers have been building for centuries. Stand before the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel at the Gateway of India and understand why this building has been a symbol of Indian elegance for over a century. Take the ferry to the UNESCO Elephanta Caves and stand before a 1,500-year-old three-faced Shiva carved from solid rock. Walk through Dharavi with a local guide and discover one of the world’s most remarkable stories of urban ingenuity. Eat your way through Mumbai’s street food — Vada Pav, Bhel Puri, Pav Bhaji, Irani chai — at legendary stalls that have been feeding the city for generations.
This Mumbai tour package is ideal for first-time visitors, outstation travellers, and anyone who wants to understand India’s most magnificent, maddening, and mesmerising city.
Arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Mumbai is the city that never sleeps, never apologises, and never fails to astonish. Drop your bags and head straight to Marine Drive for the evening — the sweeping Art Deco promenade along the Arabian Sea where all of Mumbai comes to breathe. Watch the sun sink over the water as the street food stalls light up. Bhel Puri, Vada Pav, and Irani chai to welcome you to the city. Overnight in Mumbai.
After breakfast, begin with South Mumbai's iconic highlights. Gateway of India — Mumbai's most famous monument, built to welcome King George V in 1911, now the city's symbolic heart. The grand Taj Mahal Palace Hotel beside it, a Mumbai legend since 1903. Dhobi Ghat — the world's largest outdoor laundry where thousands of washermen (dhobis) clean Mumbai's clothes by hand in 800 stone wash pens. Crawford Market — the city's largest wholesale market with its Gothic architecture, pet section, fruit stalls, and dry fruit shops. Chor Bazaar (Thieves' Market) for antiques, Bollywood memorabilia, and everything else. Overnight in Mumbai.
Morning ferry from Gateway of India to Elephanta Island (1 hr each way) — a tranquil island in Mumbai Harbour home to the UNESCO-listed rock-cut cave temples of Shiva, dating to the 5th–8th centuries. The most impressive is the 6-metre three-headed Trimurti sculpture of Shiva as creator, preserver, and destroyer. Return to Mumbai for lunch. Afternoon: Dharavi Urban Tour — a responsible, community-supported guided walk through Asia's largest urban township — revealing an extraordinary story of industry, enterprise, creativity, and community that challenges every preconception about what Dharavi is. Evening: Bollywood Film City tour or Juhu beach for street food and sunset. Overnight in Mumbai.
After breakfast, explore Bandra West — Mumbai's hippest neighbourhood with its Bandra Bandstand promenade, Mount Mary Church, Pali Market, street art walls, and charming cafes. Visit the famous Bollywood Walk of Fame (if time permits) near Bandra Reclamation. Transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward journey. Mumbai doesn't let go easily — it's already forming a plan to bring you back.
Yes, Mumbai is one of India's safest cities for tourists. South Mumbai (Colaba, Fort, Marine Drive), Bandra, and Juhu are all extremely tourist-friendly. Our tours use trusted local guides and private vehicles throughout. Standard travel precautions apply as in any large metro city.
November to February is the best time to visit Mumbai. The weather is pleasant (25–30°C), humidity is low, and the city's outdoor spaces and festival life are at their most enjoyable. Mumbai's monsoon (June–September) is dramatic and has its own unique appeal but heat and humidity make it less comfortable for sightseeing.
Yes. Sunsilk Holidays partners only with responsible Dharavi tour operators that are community-approved, employ local guides from within Dharavi, and share a portion of tour revenue with local initiatives. Photography inside residential areas is restricted. The tour is an educational and positive experience — one of the most eye-opening in Mumbai.
